Soap Company Cleans Up Environment

Rock River Soap Company has released a new line of soaps aimed at protecting and conserving Wisconsins natural resources.

October 15, 2004 -- Rock River Soap Company has been hand-crafting natural soaps for about 10 years, but their new Conserve line does more than clean your body. The line features three varieties of soap that specifically benefit grass-roots environmental organizations that protect our land, our air, and our water. Depending upon the variety purchased, 10% of the proceeds are donated to the Rock River Coalition, Gathering Waters Conservancy, or Clean Wisconsin.

Company president Teri Holloway hopes to further spur the idea of conscientious consumption. We can all make better choices said Holloway. This choice allows people to make a small donation while buying a gift or a personal care item.

Holloway is concerned about the environment because We all have a stake in our natural resources. What we do today will have an impact on what resources are available to our children and their children.

Holloway notes we are accepting the responsibility that, as a business, we should lead the way in promoting ideas that help raise awareness of environmental issues.

Holloway selected the recipient organizations because they are grass-roots Wisconsin-based organizations that actively participate in improving the environment. The soaps in the line are all-natural vegetable-oil soaps and are gently scented with pure essential oils.

Rock River Soap Company also sells a dog shampoo that benefits a no-kill animal shelter in Door County. They plan to unveil more charitable products in the near future. Holloway says their next set of products will be aimed at helping people with catastrophic illnesses, such as breast cancer.
